When was the school founded?
Foundations School Community was founded in 1994 and is a private, independent, non-religious academic school with a progressive approach.

Where is the school located?
FSC is located at 14646 Sherman Way, between Kester and Van Nuys Boulevard in Van Nuys, California.

 

 

In which grades does the school offer instruction?
Kindergarten through eighth grade.

 

 

What are the school’s hours?
Elementary School: 9:00 am-3:00 pm.
Middle School: 8:15 am-3:00 pm.

 

 

What are the hours of before and after care at FSC?
Before care begins at 7:30 am
After care is offered from 3:00 until 5:30 pm.

 

 

Does the school offer a hot lunch program?
Hot lunch is available daily from an outside caterer.

 

 

What kind of participation is expected of parents?
- To serve on one ongoing school committee.
- To drive 3-4 field trips.
- To participate in two facility work days.
- To support the fundraising efforts of Foundations School Community.

 

 

Does the school offer financial aid?
Foundations School Community dedicates 25% of tuition revenue towards financial aid and scholarships. Financial aid is limited and provided on an as-needed basis.

 

 

Do you require testing of children for admission?
In keeping with our philosophy of respect for the child, we do not require testing or interviewing. After the application is complete, children are unobtrusively observed at their current school, and we request a written evaluation completed by the child’s current school.
